Related to Merlot but distinctly different, Carmenere has a history similar to Malbec. Widely planted in Bordeaux before phylloxera struck, it was neglected in the replanting because it is a fickle producer in Bordeaux's cool climate. Chile's warm, dry weather is perfect for Carmenere and this is a richly fruited wine with excellent body and richness coupled with an intriguing aroma of dried herbs and spices.
