The vineyard of the Château de Thauvenay was established during the first Empire by Count Jean-Pierre de Montalivet. Since 1820 the wines have been cultivated through succeeding generations. Today, they cover some 40 acres along the slopes on the left bank of the Loire river to the south of Sancerre
